MaryAnn Mattingly, MS, LPCS, NCC, CCMHC Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in individual, couples and group counseling. I have maintained a private practice in Anchorage, Alaska since 2003. Prior to that, I maintained a private practice in Little Rock, Arkansas, as a clinician in several inpatient and outpatient settings with children, youth, adults, couples and families. I am a former Intake Director for the Rivendell Children and Youth Center in Benton, Arkansas, and a Clinical Program Manager at Youth Home, Inc. located in Little Rock, Arkansas. I started early in the helping field, working at a large hospital as a crisis intervention specialist for patients, families and medical staff in the emergency room, critical care and surgery areas, eventually moving to management.
I have enjoyed living abroad in both Belgium and France. While I now call Anchorage home, I also have close ties to Little Rock, Arkansas and Burbank, California. I love to learn about diverse cultures and this interest has provided me with a broad range of life experiences, colorful friends and family, including an adopted Italian-American family. I like to walk, meditate, weave, hike, garden, travel, read, cherish animals and enjoy nature. I am fortunate to be a mom, stepmom, and wife.
Among my areas of professional expertise are depression and anxiety and achieving life goals through living a healthy, happy life. I want to help clients cultivate insight and solutions creating relationship harmony as well as bringing mindfulness practices into all areas of daily life.
Having maintained a personal Mindfulness practice for many years, I am an ongoing student of Mindfulness with Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. I was fortunate to study with him on many occasions including at his home in Plum Village, France. Other teachers I am grateful to have worked with directly include Peggy Rowe-Ward and Dr. Larry Ward, dharma teachers in the tradition of the Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh ; Sharon Salzberg, Insight Meditation Center, Massachusetts; Ram Dass; Daniel Siegel, MD, Mindful Awareness Research Center, UCLA; Anna Cox, LCSW, Compassion Works for All; and His Holiness, the Dalai Lama.
